APrIGF WSIS+20 Working Group
ABOUT
The APrIGF Multistakeholder Steering Group (MSG) established the APrIGF Working Group for WSIS+20 as a platform for the Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APrIGF) community to participate and contribute to the WSIS+20 process. The Working Group conducts virtual meetings every fortnightly to discuss ways for the community to contribute their opinions ahead of the WSIS+20 Review, one of them is through organizing Webinars for discussion of WSIS+20 Review and the WSIS Action Lines.

LATEST WEBINAR SERIES
WEBINAR 1
Held on 3 June 2025, this webinar invited four esteemed speakers to onboard the APAC region regarding the WSIS+20 review processes; Sorina Teleanu highlighted the historical relevance of WSIS documents and its action lines for the Internet governance community today. She underlined the importance of the WSIS+20 review in providing a critical reflection on past achievements and identifying new strategies for digital governance. William Lee shared the importance of transparent and inclusive processes from the government perspective, while encouraging the community to contribute to the process by providing clear, fact-based messages and participating in consultations. He brought up the local case study of Australia, showcasing the tesseract that puts Multistakeholder working group as the government’s source of consultation. Jennifer Chung stressed the technical community’s role in maintaining Internet interoperability and called for the technical community to participate in stakeholder consultations and contribute to the WSIS+20 Review process. Anita Gurumurthy underscored the need for public finance to support digital public infrastructure and data governance to ensure equitable digital development. She emphasised the critical role of civil society as a ’North Star’ of justice and equity.
Introducing the WSIS+20 for the Asia Pacific Internet Community Webinar

Held on 17 September 2025, this webinar followed a workshop-style format, designed for active participation. All attendees were organised into break-out groups to discuss one out of five main key issues selected by the APrIGF WSIS+20 Working Group from the WSIS+20 Zero Draft. Five key issues include:
- Multistakeholder model of Internet Governance
- Digital Access, Inclusion & Connectivity
- Human Rights
- Building confidence and security in ICTs
- Digital Economy
This Webinar served as a safe space for participants to think about various facets of the issues raised in the Zero Draft and inspire them to participate in the WSIS+20 Stakeholder Consultation which will take place on 13-14 October 2025.
Reflection on WSIS+20 Zero Draft Webinar
WEBINAR 3
Held on 17 November 2025, this webinar on “Asia Pacific Views on WSIS+20 Revision 1” aimed to engage the Asia Pacific community in an open dialogue to provide feedback and inputs on possible text revision on the outcome document, Revision 1. Moderated by APrIGF WSIS+20 member, Cheryl Langdon-Orr, speakers in this webinar include: William Lee and Jennifer Chung, who each provided an update on the WSIS+20 Review process and insights as to how the negotiations are shaping up, including key focus areas or areas of concern, from the government and IMSB perspectives, respectively. Amrita Choudhury, who shared stock take on the APrIGF WSIS+20 Working Group activities and briefly on the WSIS+20 discussion made during APrIGF 2025, and Isra Rosas from the Internet Society with his analysis and redlined comparison between the WSIS+20 Zero Draft and Revision 1 outcome document.
The webinar also featured a 30-minute Open Mic session where participants were free to engage and provide feedback on possible text revision on Revision 1.
