APrIGF WSIS+20 Working Group

ABOUT

The APrIGF Multistakeholder Steering Group (MSG) established the APrIGF Working Group for WSIS+20 as a platform for the Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APrIGF) community to participate and contribute to the WSIS+20 process. The Working Group conducts virtual meetings every fortnightly to discuss ways for the community to contribute their opinions ahead of the WSIS+20 Review, one of them is through organizing Webinars for discussion of WSIS+20 Review and the WSIS Action Lines.

LATEST WEBINAR SERIES

Held on 3 June 2025, this webinar invited four esteemed speakers to onboard the APAC region regarding the WSIS+20 review processes; Sorina Teleanu highlighted the historical relevance of WSIS documents and its action lines for the Internet governance community today. She underlined the importance of the WSIS+20 review in providing a critical reflection on past achievements and identifying new strategies for digital governance. William Lee shared the importance of transparent and inclusive processes from the government perspective, while encouraging the community to contribute to the process by providing clear, fact-based messages and participating in consultations. He brought up the local case study of Australia, showcasing the tesseract that puts Multistakeholder working group as the government’s source of consultation. Jennifer Chung stressed the technical community’s role in maintaining Internet interoperability and called for the technical community to participate in stakeholder consultations and contribute to the WSIS+20 Review process. Anita Gurumurthy underscored the need for public finance to support digital public infrastructure and data governance to ensure equitable digital development. She emphasised the critical role of civil society as a ’North Star’ of justice and equity.
