The multistakeholder model of Internet governance is under pressure globally, challenged by geopolitical fragmentation and corporate dominance, among other issues. In the Asia Pacific, these global shifts intersect with a complex regional landscape marked by vast socio-economic inequalities, uneven connectivity, and diverse political systems. To address these challenges, there is a pressing need to reimagine multistakeholder digital governance in the Asia Pacific through models that are not only inclusive but also responsive to the region’s diversity and lived realities. Future governance frameworks must prioritise equitable participation, particularly from underrepresented voices and smaller states, and uphold human rights, transparency, and accountability. With growing geopolitical competition influencing digital policy directions, a regionally grounded, collaborative approach is essential – one that treats diversity as a foundation for resilience and ensures no one is left behind in shaping the digital future.
